Miguel Sousa

Miguel Sousa, born in 1996 in Lisbon, began his musical journey at the age of 10 when he joined the Santa Cecilia Music Academy, where he started learning saxophone alongside music theory. After completing his secondary education, he chose to pursue vocational training to specialize in music production.

In 2013, he enrolled in the Music Production and Technologies course at EPI, while simultaneously working on various sound and music production projects.

In 2016, Miguel moved to Berlin, where he collaborated on several soundtracks with the Paradise Paradox studios team. One of his most notable achievements during this period was composing for Space Dogs, an Austrian production that won the Composition Award at the Munich International Documentary Festival.

Upon returning to Portugal in 2018, Miguel began his degree in Sound Science and Technologies at Universidade Lusófona, which he completed in 2021. This period deepened his connection to the worlds of cinema and advertising.

Since then, he has worked on various projects as a Sound Director, including the series Prisma (directed by Sónia Balacó and Zé Bernardino), the short film Boca Cava Terra (by Luís Campos), the documentary A Cabeça não é um local seguro (by Joana Caiano), and numerous commercials across different industries.

In 2024, Miguel was part of the documentary project Magnetic Stories, which won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival.
